Meet Rene’

Rene’ Stewart Pearce was born and raised in the village of Harlem. She gives much credit to the neighborhood’s culture for enabling her identify a unique sense of style at a young age. After losing her job of 20 years in the Emergency Trauma Department at Hackensack University Medical Center, Rene’ quickly recognized the opportunity to reinvest in her passion for design and explore entrepreneurship.

In 2016, Rene’ officially launched Marz’anay™, offering custom handmade denim products reimagined with her love for denim. The vision for Marz’anay™ could not have been more clear for Rene’ after her son Marsalis encouraged her to research her skillset by taking a course at the Fashion Institute of Technology on Sustainable Fashion. Marsalis paid for the class and this experience produced even further confirmation for Rene’ to continue her journey discovering new techniques to recycle and upcycle denim materials.

Rene’ considers denim one of the most timeless and versatile fabrics in the industry and across the world. With the unwavering support of friends, family, old customers and new ones, Rene’ strives to remain sharing her story with humility and delivering one of a kind custom denim products made in the USA. At Marz’anay are handmade with love first, bespoke and buzz worthy.
